Superradiance of an Extended Resonant Medium Excited by Half-Cycle Attosecond Pulses

چکیده
Here we demonstrate an unusual type of superradiance in extended layer a two-level medium excited by pair unipolar pulses. It is shown that, due to the interference secondary waves emitted resonant medium, response such reflection represents half-cycle pulses different polarity. They follow with time delay proportional thickness. The source monopolar pulse stopped polarization induced first excitation and switched off second pulse. predicted effect can be used control shape few- subcycle media.

Electromagnetic bubble generation by half-cycle pulses.
Electromagnetic (EM) bubbles (EMB's), unipolar, super-short, and intense nonoscillating solitary pulses of EM radiation, can be generated in a gas of nonlinear atoms by available half-cycle pulses (HCP's). We investigate how EMB's characteristics (amplitude, length, formation distance, and total number) are controlled by the amplitude and length of originating HCP's. We also predict shocklike w...
متن کاملProbing quantum states of Rydberg electrons by half-cycle pulses
Recently performed experiments 1 have demonstrated that half-cycle pulses (HCPs), i.e. unimodular electromagnetic pulses, are a useful new spectroscopic tool which is particularly well suited for investigating the dynamics of weakly bound Rydberg electrons. Typically their pulse durations range from the subpicosecond to the nanosecond regime and these pulses have already been produced with elec...
متن کاملIonization of oriented elliptic Rydberg states by half-cycle pulses
Recently sources of subpicosecond, unipolar ‘‘halfcycle’’ electromagnetic field pulses have been developed and employed to study the ionization of Rydberg atoms. These half-cycle pulses ~HCP! were used first to study the ionization of Rydberg atoms with well-defined angular momentum quantum numbers @1#. More recently HCP have been used also to study the ionization of extreme parabolic states or...
